Burtnieks (also called Lake Burtnieks) is the fourth largest lake in Latvia. It is located on the plane of the Northern Vidzeme landscape of Burtnieks. The administrative lake is part of the Burtnieku district in Burtnieku and Matīšu parish and borders with the Old Town. Burtnieks is a place for fishing, hunting, birds watching and recreation.
